FemFriday #3 Tushi Polo ft. I-Wolf / iNANA
FemFriday is a concert series putting a spotlight on exceptional female musicians. Every second Friday of a month kulturen in bewegung and the Weltmuseum Wien are starring female musicians and female fronted bands of urban music.
Tushi Polo, a rapper and soul-singer from Kampala/Uganda, will honour us with her presence at the thrird FemFriday at the Weltmuseum Wien. She will be accompanied by the Viennese producer Wolfgang Schlögl aka I-Wolf. As a Support Act we welcome the artpop duo iNANA.
The rapper, singer, songwriter and actress Tushi Polo from Uganda wants to inspire many people and particularly the young generation with her music. She raps about topics that are important for young and old, but get mostly ignored in daily life.
Her career started 2014 when she won the End of the Weak Uganda- competition as the first female Hip-Hop artists ever. US-artist Chozen Destiny featured her on his track System Interruption. Tushi Polo’s collaboration with the Austrian artist and producer Wolfgang Schlögl started with the project Amadinda Sound System which will also be performing at the ImPulsTanz 2018.
Tushi Polo is also a rap anchor on the famous award winning rap – news programme, NEWZ BEAT on NTV, delivering the latest news in verse and rhyme. She performed on festivals like Bayimba – International Arts Festival, End of the Weak and LaBa Arts Festival.
Currently, she is working on a solo EP album with one of the best Ugandan producers, Nase Avatar.
iNANA stands for the musical collaboration between two women, the singer and songwriter Nina Braith and the music producer and scoring artist Iva Zabkar. In April 2018 they published their first EP "How is the air". Although iNANA´s Homebase is Vienna, the musical project found itself in Brooklyn where it seemed to fit perfectly and many more songs found their origin.
The two women strictly avoid pigeonholing and combine wonky trap beats with acoustic instruments, spheric sounds and deep harmonies.
